Dr. Agyapong is a scrappy clinician, community leader, and strategist with expertise in healthcare, education, and workforce development. He studied pharmaceutical sciences (B. Pharm., First Class Hons., KNUST, Ghana) before moving to the US to pursue medicine. As a first-generation immigrant, low-income college grad, and career changer, he began as a store clerk in 7-Eleven before launching a winding path to Harvard Medical School (MD Class of 2020). Dr. Agyapong earned his medical degree from Harvard Medical School with Honors In A Special Field, working with Partners In Health in Malawi to design a teaching case for the global health graduate program at the University of Malawi College of Medicine (COM) - Option B+ in Malawi: Toward locally-inspired global health teaching.
To pay forward this privileged path, his career mission centers on neglected issues in healthcare and workforce development through cross-disciplinary innovation and scholarship. Dr. Agyapong's has over 16 years of experiences in life sciences, healthy policy, and community leadership (US Army Reserve Combat Medic), which fosters resourceful collaborations in the healthcare and education ecosystems. His clinical research centers on developing biomarkers and therapeutic targets in fatty liver disease and liver cancer (see research publications ).
Dr. Agyapong is a singer (soloist/chorister), public speaker, and a community advocate. He enjoys the outdoors, animations, and occasional cooking (brunch on weekends/holidays).
